If you are purchasing these as your main power source on a 12-14 foot aluminum boat, you may be better off using traditional longer wooden oars. However, if you use them occasionally or as a backup in case of engine failure, this might be the right choice. On my low 14ft boat they were perfect for casual use. I bought Revain oarlocks intended for a larger diameter paddle, bought a 12 inch bike tube, cut the tube in half, wrapped the oars and put on the oarlocks. Works great for my intended use.
