Review on Enhanced BenQ EX3203R Monitor with FreeSync DisplayHDR - 31.5 Inch, 2560X1440P, Curved Design, HDMI Connectivity by Papi Alvarez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good monitor, but not exceptional.

I use this monitor for gaming and watching videos and sometimes movies. Gaming: Pros - HDR is really nice - The curved screen is beautiful - The wide screen allows you to see further to the side than with the normal aspect ratio - Since HDR never blooms again, that sun gets real color against the shadow of the building directly Before you leave it Cons - with HDR many games use light/dark values which makes some textures look bad - with HDR you literally can't see what's in some shadows where you need to be able to see - many games don't support widescreen Well. Not the monitor's fault, but something to note: the method of widening the screen edge in some games (e.g. high-angle scaling) doesn't work on a curved screen. Most game HUDs are not designed for wide screens. that the 4ms response time really adds to any other response time issues you might be having. Movies look really good with HDR and the widescreen works well for regular aspect ratio video, as the dark sides are black like black you really can forget about that more than non-HDR screens. The product claims to have "eye strain protection" but if so, it is not effective at all. The first day I switched to this screen my eyes started to hurt after a few hours of use. The minimum brightness setting is fine at night but still fairly bright, the maximum brightness will make you squint in the middle of the day when your monitor is in front of a window.
