I've seen many of these fancy new watermelon knives on the market and was dying to try one. The thrill of slicing perfectly even watermelon slices every time was quite exciting. So I went ahead and ordered one and couldn't wait to check it out. We got a giant watermelon for my sister's birthday and she used a new watermelon slicer to cut delicious watermelons for everyone. But unfortunately we let ourselves down a bit. The jagged edges cutting the watermelon slices weren't as sharp as they should be, so they didn't cut as well as we'd like, but the slices had a nice shape when we finally cut the watermelon slice. It has a rod at the end of two slicing arm-like tongs to hold the watermelon slices in the traditional shape. The idea was there, but the actual use of the cutter wasn't. It cut well, but it took more force than we initially thought and we wished our knife would cut instead of this plane. May I recommend it? I would not say that. It really doesn't work the way we hoped it would. I received this product at a promotional discount for my honest review and they are 100% my own opinion.
