Review on Yokohama Ice Guard IG50 215/50 R17 99Q winter by Jnis Kalni ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Full compliance with the manufacturers assurances, high quality.

During the winter season, the city has only a couple of days a year when you can experience problems (freezing rain, for example). The rest of the time it behaves appropriately. There is no desire to experiment with the transition to another linden or spikes. Since the rubber is soft, you may not immediately feel that the wheel has flattened, especially in the snow. This should be monitored more closely than on summer tires. Once there was such a precedent that the wheel was slowly lowered due to a self-tapping screw, but I didn’t notice, and on a completely flat tire, the inner rim chewed. I had to roll with the camera.

Pros
  • Good linden, quiet. Fully reveals its advantages at temperatures below -10. I have been using only Yokohama Icegard for the last 10 years, first thirty, then fifty. There has never been a breakdown of the sidewalls during this time, although they are soft and thin. Once I caught a hernia due to inattention and left with it without problems until the end of the season, although it got out decently. Punctures are very rare compared to summer tires.
Cons
  • At positive temperatures too roll. On bare ice, you need to slow down carefully and in advance, but this can probably be said about any linden.
