I bought this to fix the evaporator code on my truck. The original valve ran 200,000 miles and wasn't completely tight (it felt like there was only a little bit of vacuum going through it even when it was closed). I bought a Motorcraft valve thinking it would be the most reliable option. I installed this valve but still get a high evaporator flow code sometimes. I've checked the valve and vacuum lines repeatedly but haven't found any leaks and every time I've checked the valve it's been completely tight. I didn't know this, but the valve would periodically get stuck in the open position. The purge flow sensor detects this and sets the code, but the valve closes again and after a few minutes begins to work normally again. When I checked everything was fine. It drove me crazy One day the truck set the code again and I felt it stumble and misfire at idle. This time the valve stayed wide open but did not close. I tapped it a few times and it clicked into place and the truck idle leveled out. I hooked up my scanner and ran the valve in bi-directional test mode. It always opened when power was applied, but would intermittently not close when power was removed. Sometimes I had to tap it to close it. I've attempted to clean it a couple of times thinking there was some kind of manufacturing residue left in it. I ended up wiping it down with alcohol and quickly turned it on and grounded one terminal with a test light. It seems to have helped, although I'm still not 100% sure it's still working. Only the activated charcoal canister is located in front of this valve. I checked that there weren't any loose pieces of charcoal that could be causing the valve to stay open. I couldn't find any, and I've never seen any sign of debris in the valve, lines, or purge flow sensor. I think I just have a bad valve. Didn't find it in time to return it so I'll live with it. I can probably only attribute it to the luck of the draw. Bad parts just happen sometimes, although I expected more when paying a premium for a genuine Motorcraft part. I am writing this review mainly to help someone else if they are experiencing the same symptoms. I was chasing my tail because it took me a while to believe a new OEM part was to blame.
