My van has a 1 1/4 inch hitch that I was told would fit on a bike rack. Obviously many heavier bike racks that can hold 4 or more bikes are designed for 2 inch hitches. However, it's okay. I bought this adapter and was pleasantly surprised at how HEAVY it is. It attaches perfectly to the hitch and bike rack and allows me to use things that wouldn't otherwise fit on my hitch. I was also pleasantly surprised that Revain was slightly cheaper than a few other places I checked. However, this will result in your hitch sticking out a few inches beyond the bumper. So be careful when parking backwards.
