Review on Precision Router System Kreg PRS1045 by Jimmy Montalvo

Expensive milling tables. But worth every penny!

I never thought I would spend so much on a router table. But after reading the reviews I decided to just do it and I'm glad I did. The thing exudes quality. I ordered the complete system. Table, fence, rollers and all other accessories. It took some time to assemble and install. My ONLY complaint is that the instructions were a little vague on one or two areas. But after looking at the hardware and some photos on the internet, I assembled everything and set it up. There is a procedure for leveling the fence. That wasn't necessary as everything on this table was square once assembled. All parts of the table are well made and fit perfectly. The steel frame is very thick and everything went smoothly. This is NOT a light table. That's pretty significant. I have no idea how much weight this will hold, but it must be hundreds of pounds (not that you need it for that. Just to give you an idea of how heavy it is). I installed a Bosch 1617EVS router on a table. . Drilling holes in the milling plate was very easy using a centering template on the back of the plate. Just be careful not to drill a hole for the starter pin. This is very simple, so keep this in mind when centering your marker/drill. Wonder how I almost learned this the hard way! One thing I noticed is that the microcontroller shown in the photo is different than the one that comes with the kit. The dial included in the kit is a dial that mounts to a railing bracket at the end of the table. Speaking of the fence, it moves easily with one hand and stays level. It is attached to both ends of the table. It also comes with a tape measure that attaches to the top of the fence. Very convenient. There is also a second strap that attaches to the fence brace at the end of the table for very fine adjustment of the fence. The wheels are almost the highlight of this table. They are very durable, roll quietly and easily and all 4 snap into place to keep the table stationary. They work very well. I just did a few test runs with a few different boards. Everything worked as advertised. The fence stayed put and stayed locked in place. No vibrations or unwanted table movements as long as everything is tight. Fence extensions have also proven their worth. If you are looking for a quality router table then this is for you. I can't wait to actually use it. UPDATED 4/3/2017: I just noticed today that the set of positioning rods includes 2 3/8" rods and no 7/16" rod. I contacted Craig for a replacement.
