Review on πŸ” Vanguard Endeavor ED II Binoculars: Premium Hoya ED Glass, Waterproof & Fogproof - A Superior Viewing Experience by Liz Howard

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Too many chromatic aberrations and other flaws to justify the price

Disadvantages: - chromatic aberration is poorly compensated even in the center, 2-3 times cheaper at binocular level, despite claimed ED/Hoya glass - not too sharp, even in the center, slightly washed out by strong CA and other aberrations - low light transmission (only 80% according to allbinos tests), thanks to the silver prism coating, which also gives the image a slightly yellowish tint - the focusing wheel is very hard and requires literally nano adjustments to focus as the full focus range only requires about 270 degrees of rotation - the focus wheel rubber is slippery even with that goose bumps covering texture - the diopter wheel is very hard then why lock it up? - painted metal hinges scratch easily - unbalanced, very heavy front compared to notches for bo thumbs, requires more strength to hold than necessary - eyecup intermediate stops have no clear clicks and are rather flimsy - very thin rubber lens cap, too flimsy - pouch has very cheap padding, like cheap crunchy vinyl that makes a loud noise when you pick it up - a visual soup of the styles/colors of the logos on the binoculars and case: yellow, green, orange - inattention to small details: the Tripod Thread Cap is on the side when fully screwed V: <; Lens caps reveal part number and diameter when opened - do we really need to see this?; The serial number is just a sticker that looks like it will fall off by itself. Advantages:

Pros
  • Stable construction
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
