It is not as fluffy as I hoped (the villi are pretty short) but there's no denying that it's pretty darn soft and adds a lovely charm to the room. I think it's a nice medium between a "fur" rug but without feeling like the floor is suddenly covered in long hair (and easier to maintain). The whole thing is pretty thin/flexible, so if you're going to use it on hard floors, it's best to put some kind of rug underneath. Caution: It's slippery, especially when you wear socks. I didn't feel my feet slipping out from under me during normal walking, but I can well imagine someone (me) greeting the ground when in a hurry and not paying attention or being idle.
