Durable but strong chemical odor

These are durable units and look solid. They are packed very well. They come with a large number of mounting screws and dowels designed for attachment to brick, concrete or stone. The reflective band on them glitters, making them visible at night through reflected light. Rubber/plastic cases are thick and heavy. My only issue with them is that the rubber has a strong chemical smell, like they're made from recycled plastic or rubber that's been fortified with plasticizers, chemicals designed to make plastic flexible.
