Tips and things to avoid

So my 2011 Mazda cx-9 had both front ends replaced two weeks apart. I'm assuming the Heck will be departing somewhere over the next few months. And that's okay, because I like to feel fulfilled, and that's easy to fix. Much easier than the rear wheel bearing I had to do last week. God, this car is starting to look like it's made in America. Four stars anyway because there are no instructions on how to teach the switch to work with the auto on/off feature that comes with this car's OEM. Once installed, simply press the switch to fully lower the window and hold for 5 seconds. Then do the same thing by scrolling the window all the way up and holding it for 5 seconds. VIOLA! Even with the second one I installed, I thought I had it all figured out and would be able to set it up in record time. I think I even set a timer so I can later brag to my shade tree mechanic friends. Well I ended up sliding the gear case back into the door frame as the window was down when I tried to install it, not like the first time. I'm not 100% sure what the up or down difference is, but JUST BE CAREFUL not to push too hard when trying to grab the motor studs or you will do the same. I worked and worked to never take the door apart again and my perseverance paid off. I just want others to avoid the same trap. Otherwise the windows are now OEM accepted and the motors appear to be working well.

Cons
  • Don't remind me
