Decent quality for the price. The only cast iron parts are the base and chilling pan. Plate made of pressed steel. I use it as a vise stand and it should be strong enough for my intended use. The strength and quality is more than enough for a bench grinder. Update 12/30/15 I read in other reviews that this stand cannot be used with a vise. My 6" vise is bolted on top and I've used it many times. When I use them for heavier work, I screw them to the floor. I changed the universal joints on the drive shaft and the front axles on my Ford Bronco. survived, nothing bent or broken.
