I'm African American. I have curls that I usually twist by turning my palms. My hair loves to pull away from the body of the curl and this tool set made it very easy to reintegrate the flies. I used to use single hook crochet tools on my husband's (Caucasian) hair. I mention this to illustrate the use of this tool on different hair types and different hair care methods, but the double hook is a game changer and helps detach. I spent a lot of time knitting his curls. The tools are well made and durable. They make inconspicuous holes in the locks and I have not noticed that this violates the integrity of my locks. I see that they will serve us for a long time.
