Review on Astro 78618 Brake Caliper Tool by Mike Cassidy

I have a 2009 Honda Accord. In my case I only used a right hand stud assembly and base plate. I did not use the various adapters that came with the kit. I used this tool to retract (retract) the rear caliper piston. For my Honda's front brake, I use a simple C-clamp to retract the caliper and it works better for me. I only needed this tool for the rear brake. Note that the rear disc brake caliper is more complex and requires this type of special tool due to the emergency braking system. You need to use this type of special tool to rotate the caliper piston when rewinding. I ordered this set which comes with both right hand and left hand threaded bolts because the price is about the same as another set that does not include the less common left hand threaded bolt arrangement. Since the price is about the same, I ordered the most complete set. I was happy to learn that the various parts fit snugly into the blown body. Each part of the set has a unique number to distinguish it from other parts. The stamped number makes it easy to identify where each part is located inside the case. The numbering system also makes it easier to follow the instructions when reading the manual. Overall, this set is well organized and complete. The manual is clearly written and defines which parts are used for which car brand. If you're on a budget, you can pick up a similar set from your local auto parts store like Auto Zone. However, at such a low price I prefer to buy my own set and avoid going to the car parts dealer.
