Works! I'm very glad I chose a diamond stone over a regular stone and it's a good price. I've never sharpened, but this is from a YouTube video about a professional sharpener. Over the years our sharp knives lasted a few months and then grew duller unless I paid a high price to have someone sharpen them again only to last 6-9 months before they became dull. Before that I bought a standard sharpener (reel type) which is highly recommended here and it actually dulled the knife compared to before. With that I got it back to a point that I like, although I'm now looking for a good touch up skin to get it sharp enough to shave! (well, at least do a full paper test). I've sharpened quite a few knives with it and made them almost useless again. I've never sharpened knives before and every easy to use sharpener I've bought in the past hasn't worked. I always thought I needed a sharpener to set the angle for me (like roller type guys) but I found it very easy to get the angle right when using a stone. Spend some money on this stone, watch some youtube videos on how to do it right and I think you will be very satisfied.
