I used a harder plastic ice maker but getting the cubes from a cold, inflexible container eventually broke some cubes. These silicone cube makers fix that problem and now the ice comes out without too much trouble and I don't have to partially defrost to get them out. They make VERY large ice cubes. A couple of my glasses are a bit small for a cube to sit on the floor, but they slowly melt when a little malt drink is added!
