If I had used this product in the late 90's I would have given it a good rating as it was the only game in town. I actually had a Garmin GPS that I used in the 90's and it was great back then. It's just too old now. I got this unit as I will be doing JMT next month. So I tested it by going to the White Mountains. I had my phone (an iPhone X with AllTrails loaded) and this unit. At first the map was very difficult to read. It is not possible to change the color of your track. It's light green. The supplied topographic maps have a green tint when driving on paths. Second, the touch zoom is slow to respond. The battery life is far from what they advertise. Mine lasted 8 hours. While my phone still worked in airplane mode. I had to change batteries in the middle of a hike. Come on Garmin, move with the times! For over $500, this device has a job to do and should show you where you're going. My phone, on the other hand, did a lot more than that. Update your software to at least this century. The device has been returned. I'll stick to my cell phone.
