This tool works perfectly and saves me the trouble of damaging tubes and spending time with old rusted compression rings. Every DIYer who has replaced a home-made copper fitting has had to deal with a stuck compression ring. Pliers/vices can compress the pipe, one movement of the cutting wheel with a dremel and you will score the pipe. If you're trying to use a typical valve puller, you'll have to do your best to keep the "levers" on the nut. The thread adapter of this superior puller allows it to be screwed directly onto the nut. Nothing to press, nothing to slip. I used it on a 15 year old fitting that was tightly compressed and the compression ring popped off immediately leaving a smooth pipe surface for the new fitting. And the old ring popped right out of the adapter. GREAT tool.
