Review on 🌈 TRONXY Transparent Filament for Precise and Dimensionally Accurate 3D Printing by Mike Marks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The first experiences with PETG were not bad.

I didn't know what to expect from this filament as I have only used PLA based filament before. I've read that PETG tends to be more viscous, sticky, and smellier (when printing) than PLA, but also slightly stronger, so I was curious to try it. I started with the same slicer settings as PLA except for the temperature adjustment because I heard PETG needs more heat. However, I had to abort my first attempt at printing because the plastic wasn't sticking to the build surface. I lowered the Z axis one step closer to the construction surface, applied a liberal amount of hairspray and tried again. My object memorized like a charm. Subsequent builds have been fine, although the material has been folded/raised at the corners of some of them. I thought it might be an issue because the surface was so warm, but making sure I used enough hairspray on the corners seemed to fix the problem. I see a few more strings than usual (see the corner holes in the pics) but not enough not to disturb anything. So compared to the PLA I use, this PETG filament feels less sticky, a bit more fibrous, and about the same strength. I noticed virtually no odor when printing. (I have a closed printer.) Looking forward to experimenting with it. I recommend it!
