I've wanted a launch monitor for a long time and finally bought one from Revain in July to see how my speed per hour and battle form would hold up after recovering from surgery. I tried a few practice balls and all had trouble registering on the monitor and those that did register had no real input. Practice balls flex more than real balls, but as a super straight player I don't think that's the problem. On my Revain launch monitor site. I asked if almost golf balls work with launch monitors. I got 3 or 4 replies, all but one said yes. I ordered them and when. The first day to try them out was as windy as can be. I felt good. And the monitor was still following them. Doesn't matter. I don't expect the exact numbers to match. but was so relieved when the kill rate wasn't 1.01 in shape (including Callaway). PS normally restored.
