We were very pleased with this cooler during our overland trip from the Midwest to California. This kept our items acceptably cool. One trick that helped was to fill in an incomplete bottle or two with frozen water. It also depends on the temperature in the car. I don't know if you put an ice cold drink in the cooler in the morning when it's cold enough in the evening, but this cooler worked great for our purposes. We bought an adapter so that if a hotel didn't have a fridge, we could just plug in the cooler in our room. Also plugged it in for a while before booting up to let it cool down. It's not a fridge, but it's a lot better than crushing ice or finding a way to refreeze an ice pack. It's also great that you can fold it up when not in use. We are happy with our purchase
