Review on Janlynn Counted Cross Stitch Kit: The Lord's Prayer - An Inspirational Stitching Experience by Barbara Simmons

Nice stockings but cheap floss

I would love to give this set 5 stars but honestly the floss is terrible. The pattern is very complex with tons of color transitions so it took me forever to create it. I haven't embroidered in about 20 years and this was my first set going back to crafting. Personally I would say it took around 300 hours. But it dragged on for a few years. I'm sure the work would have gone faster if I hadn't put it off so long between works on it. However, my biggest issue with this kit was how cheap and poor the filament was. I think I would save a lot of time if it was better quality. Anyway, my thread kept getting knotted and even broke several times. I had to stop often to untie the knots and even had to rip open the seams several times to go back and untie the knots on the wrong side, which I didn't immediately notice. Very annoying to say the least. Assembling the finished stocking was easy thanks to clear instructions. I also took it a step further and bought some of this iron on a pad to ensure the threads stay locked so the piece lasts for years. It was a little less room inside than I expected but still a decent size. In general, I liked the stockings and I am very happy with the result. I have already started on the right one for my daughter. However, I recommend anyone in a hurry to get their own high quality line rather than the cheap stuff that comes with this kit.
