Review on CREATIVE ART MATERIALS Colored 666 920 by Gelin Battle

Very good quality, BEAUTIFUL pencils

I am very happy with these pencils. I bought these hoping to add to my full Polychromos set so my review might be more of a comparison but I'm not an expert so I'll have to go with what I have. I find that they harmonize very well with each other and cannot balance each other's colors. Pablo has lighter, softer tones that Polychromos does not have, and Polychromos has many skin tones that Pablo's lacks. Sure, there's some overlap, but both shades are unique enough to make each a worthwhile investment. I like Pablos better because they are smaller in diameter and therefore better suited for intricate parts. They appear to be softer pens, but somehow they last longer (a big plus for me) and I've noticed very little pen dust when using them. They are very oily so you can apply many layers and the color is easy to apply. Pablos are hexagonal so don't roll easily and still feel comfortable in my hand. Additionally, open stock is available at online art stores in America. The wooden case is nice and well made but one tray has to be removed to get to all the pens and it doesn't have a travel handle but the upside is that it's pretty handy. slightly smaller than a Polychromos wooden box. I recommend a travel bag or pencil case. I will bring a duffel bag as I travel for work all the time and my stuff is quite worn out so the wooden box is very protective. Overall this is a great set on its own or to add to your existing collection. To me, this would be completely standalone, but if you're an artist and feel you need additional skin tones, there's always one available. In short, the investment is worth it

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
