Review on Progressive Suspension 11 1552 Fork Springs by Narendra Thapa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great replacement for Sportster 2013 Iron 883!

Okay, I'll admit I'm not your normal Sportster owner (that is, I weigh 220, not 160). Several people have tried it over the last year and they all agreed, one of them weighed 147 pounds. In general, I started looking at the reviews. Revain calls it incompatible, well the progressive site says otherwise. Received well, installation wasn't terrible. Get a guide or YouTube. However, there are four or five tools that I recommend at least when building a Sportster: T45 for triple clamp Clab1/4 hex head for handlebar clamp Motion Pro Fork Oil Level Gauge <-- is worth its weight in gold, no need to guess how much you need to put in, just follow the instructions and he'll find the right amount for you, so there's no cup to measure what comes out of the forks. Motion Pro Fork Cap Nut Socket for HD - 39mm Forks < - Fits fairly well, I put a strip of tape on the connector caps and didn't damage it. MV8000 Car Brake Tuning and Bleed Kit <-- Definitely get this one, you can leave your bike on the jack instead of lowering it to drain this fluid. You'll probably fill the reservoir three times, but it's a lot easier than trying to inflate it manually with forks. You probably already have: A breaker A digital torque adapter (mine came out of the docks and works great) A jack will be installed with this and it will be a one person job, not a superficial job. If the stock fork springs were 4/10, that's an 8.5/10 overall in terms of ride quality. It's not a big bob etc but a proper setup, for example with my rear shocks swapped out for Streetglide air shocks, is very snug and very comfortable. You won't be disappointed with this, get it if you are a bigger rider! Also, I use 10wt oil (Maxima, I prefer Amsoil shock therapy though) and the passenger still gets a fantastic ride.

Pros
  • Quality build
Cons
  • Some difficulties
