Review on πŸ”Š Enhanced SONY STR-DE695 A/V Receiver for Remarkable Home Theater Audio System by Logan Goozmer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Come on. This receiver is not that bad!

This is a really good receiver. Having said that, I have to admit that I've never heard AM/FM on it (I haven't heard AM/FM from outside my home either, but then again. I've never had a two-way pager either). , and do not refer to the TV as "color TV"). However, I have connected various digital devices to my Sony STR-DE695 via cinch cable and have not been disappointed in the slightest. In my opinion this receiver has aged quite gracefully and continues to produce good sound quality. I've hooked this receiver up to standard Bose speakers through a 5.1 setup (in my grad school days using DVD players and Sopranos mail order discs from Netflix) and even more complex setups using Polk RTi speakers. Recently I've switched to a simpler 2.1 audio-only setup, as I've recently discovered this format called "Vinyl" (who the heck knows? about this product). While this is a really good receiver, I've outgrown it and plan to switch to Marantz soon. The main reason is that this receiver sounds a bit dull at low frequency when playing music at high volume. It doesn't offer the crispiness and warmth of Marantz. But overall this is a really good receiver and I would recommend it for most of today's budget A/V receivers.

Pros
  • Digitally tuned AM/FM radio with up to 30 preset stations
Cons
  • Security
