Before purchasing the Ion PICS2PC I had tried other slide scanners and returned them all for one reason or another, particularly the poor performance of the software. This is the best scanner I've tried and I'm keeping it. I have already converted 50 slides on the first day and the results are satisfactory. However, I am disappointed in one thing: the slide drawer, which holds 3 slides, has a lock that is difficult to open. I feel like I spend a lot of time opening it when loading and unloading slides. I need to convert thousands of slides and this will cause the biggest delay in the process. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and the software works very well, the best I've tried. I have not yet used slide film fans or three photo fans. I believe they all have the same locking function. I can try to buy an extra slide tray from Ion depending on the price and let my wife load and unload the slides while I scan. This is to help speed up the process. Other than that, Ion did a great job building this scanner.
