Old school clamps may work with front brakes, but see what they're for. This is for threaded piston calipers commonly used on electronic braking systems. Usually found on rear disc brakes. Not changed as often as the front brake! So if you have rear disc brakes and think you're going to change them the same way as the front ones. Research first. I hope you're here BEFORE you make a mistake, not AFTER. If you notice that the accessory has raised handles, similar to the R and L tools, some of them have more than one. You grab the piston and twist it as it pushes back into the caliper. Not everyone will be the same, so there are many options to choose from that will fit the piston properly and rotate as intended. Imagine driving to understand that the L tool is used on the left side of the car and rotates counterclockwise or left to reset the piston. The right one rotates clockwise or to the right to reset the piston. If you're in the middle of a job and don't have a perfectly round piston, you may need this tool. If you try to compress a piston that needs to be rewound, you will likely damage the caliper and need to replace it. At the very least, you'll damage the piston threads and put your system at unnecessary risk. You might be lucky your brakes still work. Your electronic brake may fail. The bottom line is that you always want to use the right tool for the job. There is one improvement I could suggest. Since they look the same, you can mark the R and L instruments. Everything else is marked on the bodywork and accessories! There will be many users who don't really understand the purpose of this kit. You'll just think it's a fancy way to swap out pistons in calipers. Most won't even realize that calipers have pistons. I didn't have a manual or anything, so I can't tell what information might be included. The case is difficult to open. First I need to use the tool to open tabs. Some accessories hold up better than others, but in general. It's a great set at a great price and deserves a high mark for doing the job. They even had the foresight to round off one end that you can use a 7/8 wrench on to keep it from moving towards you while using the tool. Usually problematic on the L side! Although the case isn't perfect and I didn't receive any instructions, I still give it a five star rating. This is a great heavy duty quality for tools and accessories. The case really isn't bad, it just needs to be broken in. It's still hard plastic!
