Review on Steelex D1024 3 Forstner Drill Bit by Kevin Zamora

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Watch! .Excellent 1-1/16 " Forstner bit!

You are considering this particular Forstner bit because you need to cut a 1-1/16" hole. However, to your dismay, you found that absolutely NO Forstner, Shovel, Spade, and Hole Saw kits come with a 1.0625" (or 27mm) bit! And now your project is completely stalled while you buy a stupid one. The same was the case for the Basllion or so people who have already purchased this Steelex D2852 drill. I ordered it, lowered my expectations for the price, and was pleased to find that this drill bit cuts accurate and clean holes in oak, maple, plywood, and MDF. At the time of writing this review, I have been drilling about two hundred holes with this bit intermittently for the past few months with no loss of performance. That hole will come though; and when that smoky day finally comes (as it should), I'll happily order another Steele D2852 1.0625" Forstner bit to replace the first one. One problem: This Steelex D2852 1.0625" Forstner bit cleans up shavings not particularly good. This means it takes longer to work through a series of holes. If time is of the essence for your project, you might be better off considering a different bit brand. Conclusion: This Steelex D2852 1 .0625" Forstner Bit is a great cutter that is hard to find at a great price. I recommend it. .
