Effective IF your door is very close to the ground

Otherwise you'll have to do like I did and make a latch riser to hold the latch and get longer screws. worth the trouble. The strength of the magnet is just right. It holds the door open to prevent wind slamming, but easily releases from the stop when the door is closed. Small, unobtrusive and beautiful. In fact, the manufacturer should supply different sizes of risers to facilitate installation.
