It works as a regionless player, I was able to play all the BluRay discs I have on it. It comes with a little guide on how to set it up properly and how to change the region. I recommend keeping this paper by the machine. I didn't connect mine to the internet as there is something in this player that unlocks regionless abilities and a software update could remove that ability from the machine. This means that if you want to use it for video streaming etc, you can watch something else. Of course, it has the same build quality as a standard Sony BluRay player and suffers from the same disadvantages as a regular player. I think that people who have had this unit stop working have either not set up the player according to the instructions that came with it, or have updated the firmware which may remove the region free feature. If you know what kind of machine it is and how to use it, I think it should last a few years.
