The first thing you need to do is scan the barcode that is on the small card inside the box. And click on the link which will take you to a website with complete, very well written instructions. It also includes YouTube videos. As there were no instructions in the box I decided to film some installation tips to help anyone who decides to purchase this lock. I have a kwikset digital lock on the front of my house but I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a lock for my garden. I locked myself in several times and had to walk to get inside. These are digital locks that solve that problem and won't break the bank. I encountered a few small speed bumps during installation, but through trial and error I figured out what I was doing wrong. After correcting what I was doing wrong, the installation went very smoothly with no issues. One of my mistakes was trying to program a PIN code without changing the master code. You must change the master code to a master PIN before you can assign PINs. I was about to leave the master code as the default master, but I like that this forces you to change the master code. I change the master code to the same code on my front door and it works great. I particularly like the auto-block feature, which isn't included in my kwikset. You can also change the auto-lock delay from 2 to 99 seconds, which is what I did. Everything in this entire set is the same as the more expensive similar lock set. I'm so glad I took the risk and would confidently use it on my front door too. I highly recommend this lock and will buy it again when moving.
