Works well but communication can be a bit unreliable at times

I've been using this device for a little over a month and I'm very satisfied with the device and the good overall design of the app. I use SensorPush to monitor the temperature and relative humidity in my scanning room after encapsulating it. After following the instructions on the SensorPush website, I received a rel. The humidity was calibrated but was already within 3% of the correct reading (using the salt test) out of the box, so I'm comfortable with the initial accuracy of this device was surprised. I didn't touch the temperature display, the SensorPush read within 0.5F of both of my (pretty expensive) Honeywell thermostats, so I figured what came out of the factory wasn't worth adjusting. The app is very well designed, it's very intuitive and SensorPush does a great job of explaining everything on their website. The only reason I gave it 1 star is because sometimes I have trouble downloading data from the sensor to my phone. It seems to take 2-3 attempts to manually refresh the download every day or two to get the data and strangely the SensorP just disappears from the Bluetooth on two different phones (one Android 7, one Android 11). list . In this case I have to either stop the app manually or reconnect via BT. It doesn't happen often but none of the phones disable other BT related items so I don't understand why the problem occurs. And the distance doesn't matter as long as I'm within 3 feet of the device. Aside from that minor inconvenience, the little bug works pretty well, and the SensorPush website is fantastically designed. The folks who run this store are more like engineers who sell and service precision gauges than they sell consumer devices who don't care if they work well or not. While this device is more expensive than the competition, it's worth it. asking price. If I could change one thing (I can live with the app) it was a weird battery being used. This is the same cell used in a lot of those remote sensors but damn it's hard to find and the cells sold on Revain have terrible reviews if you delve into it. I'm not too keen on spending $$ to get them off a DigiKey or Mouser, or because of their shipping cost (they're geared toward selling to companies like the electronics company I work for, not individuals). Looks like when it comes time to change the battery I'll be making mods like this so I can run them on primary AA lithium cells.

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • unreliable
