Review on 🏠 Arlington 8141 Vertical Siding Lamp Mounting Kit: Built-in Box for 1/2 Inch Vertical Siding LAP by Chris Hunt

My house is almost 25 years old and the builder used these tiny light fixture rings over the side panel that could barely hold the main light on the porch with one lightbulb. Any fixture with a base diameter larger than the trim panel size was unacceptable. I came across them while searching and they seemed like the perfect solution to provide a solid vertical base for more modern and heavier cameras like the Ring. Installation was very easy. I didn't have a junction box behind the siding and used the included screws to attach it directly into the wood behind the siding. Have a tube of silicone sealant ready to seal the base BEFORE installing the light. However, do not seal the bottom as there is a drainage hole there. That's all. Now I can fit a larger socket with no problem, and I have room to stuff extra wires compared to the tiny cover the builder had before (see photo).
