Review on Replace Faulty Purge Valve with APDTY 140064 and Hoses for Optimal Vapor Control by Alan Brewer

The good part; a huge pain to install.

The part was in perfect condition and ready to use. The one I received was made in China, not by Ford; Still, I didn't expect to get a Ford part. The connectors on this part are actually better than the original part in my opinion, they have tabs that you squeeze together rather than ones that you have to tighten with a screwdriver or pickaxe. As for the installation, it's frustrating, tricky, and you'll scrape a fair bit together by the end. As others have said 90% of your time on this job is taken up by the connector which is located about halfway up the engine bay on the passenger side of the cylinder block and is first disconnected and then reconnected. The other two connectors are very simple and affordable. The access area for this third port is very narrow and in an awkward location. To remove it I cut the tubing, twisted the connector, and then took a pick and pulled the tab on the connector. Once this tab is fully extended (which is not easy), you can remove the connector. Installing the new part is again fairly easy except for the connector on the side of the engine. Start with this so you can manipulate the tube a bit. I lowered the plug, squeezing it with my hand as hard as I could; I didn't have enough leverage to fully insert the connector due to the limited space. I then used a long flat head screwdriver (about 14 inches) with a wide flat head and pushed it that way, using it as a lever against the generator. The other two connectors simply snap into place. maybe an hour and a half, and I thought about dropping that plug at least three times. Maybe there's an easier way to get to this thing like climbing up off the bottom of the car, but I haven't really seen how to do it. it would be easier. All in all, not hard work, just frustrating. Again a perfect detail, a huge pain to install.
