I had an issue with my old key fob where all the adhesive on the buttons was peeling off and small dials accidentally opened or unlocked the doors. It saved a life. Also, things were stolen from my car because of the old one. Simply take out the new key, open the case and change the chip. although I would recommend having cell phone tools or a small screwdriver to pry it open.
