Review on Neiko 10178A Cobalt Coated Steel 16 Inch by Mario Bullard

Revainrating 4 out of 5

. Size could be a little more helpful, the box is very pretty

Give the set 4 stars just because the size could be a little more helpful, the box is very pretty, slim and small. A great addition to any tool bag. The drills are pretty excellent, you can get drills of similar quality from Grainger for $2-$7 each, making this a very good deal. I would say they can easily be compared to the Rigid Cobalts that you can find on HD. These Neikos cut through stainless and light steel with the ease you would expect from "HSS Co" bits. As with any tool containing cobalt, it must be handled differently. High speed + light feed + cutting oil = good timing. Cobalt is like glass, thin pieces break fairly easily if stuck. These are pretty versatile drill bits, but they really shine in metals. They don't run, cut nice smooth holes and hold the edge very well. Obviously they're not designed for hardened steel, so don't use them to drill holes in knife blanks. I wish Neiko had another similarly small set in sizes 1/4" to 1/2".
