At first I thought these were to thin to block light like they claim but the sure do block about 98%. The rings are well made and they look good. The type of rod you use will determine how light is blocked up top and the sides. I got a dual rod for these and had planned to make a box top over the rings the rod I got ended up being really close to the window. It has wrap around ends so very little slight sneaks in the sides. For now I folded the rings over and had some strong spare magnets to hold the fold up top. One sets blocks light. A layer on each rod REALLY blocks the light. If you want full black out I recommend a box top to cover the rings with a wrap around side. Don't forget to set your alarm cause the sun won't be waking you up.
