I bought this because I have a lot of old KBs and mice that use PS/2 connections, but both of my new systems use USB connections and don't have PS/2 connections, so I'm wearing it I couldn't use many of my old KBs with it. This adapter has a Y on it, KB on one side and a mouse on the other. They are marked with a small raised symbol on the keyboard side and a small raised mouse symbol on the mouse side. It plugs directly into a standard USB port and gives you both a mouse and a KB with an adapter. I have a USB mouse but no USB keyboards other than the ones that came with both new computers and I needed a backup just in case. Both adapter plugs work fine, but I don't intend to use them for mouse and KB at the same time, as I occasionally encountered conflicts when one or the other USB element interfered with each other. (This is especially true when working with a joystick and gamepads.) I tested this for a keyboard with it as I have a feeling I'll need it there. It works fine for that and I didn't encounter anything that gave me problems this time, but as I said, it was the use of a PS/2 style KB on the side of the USB port. Overall not a bad adapter!
