The pump works fine after I managed to change the bracket. The bracket was welded to the engine case in the wrong place. When the pump assembly was bolted to the generator base plate (in the same bolt holes that the old pump was installed in), the nipple that the gas hose attached to did not go through the hole in the base plate because the pump assembly was rotating. about 20 degrees. I had to reshape the bracket on the pump assembly, which allowed me to mount the pump so the nipple barely went through the hole to allow the gas hose from the carb to be connected. Terrible quality control.
