Might be better as mortise chisels

Bought my set a few months ago, and finally got around to honing them.I free-sharpened to 400 grit, then stropped to "scary sharp". Slicing wood was no problem, and left shiny, smooth cuts, and wood curls. Some things I noticed:- The edge bevel is rough ground to about 30 deg, rather than the normal 25 that all my other chisels are set to. This makes the cutting edge more stout, but reduces it's fiber-slicing capabilities.- The sides are very square, with the side bevels very high, about 1/8 to 3/16 at the cutting edge. This characteristic makes these chisels bad for dovetails, as the lack of a low bevel prevents them from accessing the dovetail sides.Having a rather square, thick profile, and a higher degree cutting edge, possibly makes these chisels good for mortising, assuming the metal is dense and hard enough to withstand flex, and the thin handles can hold up.

Pros
  • The premium quality materials used ensure long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance
Cons
  • The chisels may require regular cleaning to avoid build-up of debris or dust
