I buy my son a new jacket every 2 years. It ranges from oversized to a perfect fit and slightly short on the wrists. We like the Columbia jacket best because it has a removable lining to wear on cool but not cold days. He can wear this shell over another jacket on rainy days. It can detach the hood on cold but dry days. This jacket proved to be just as versatile and weatherproof as his last Columbia jacket for the 2016/17 season. PLUS, the colors and patterns are "more grown-up" which he likes by the time he's almost 9 years old.
