Solved P0670 and P0683 Codes

Bought this item for my 2002 Ford Excursion 7.3 TurboDiesel. My check engine light stayed on (230,000 miles) throwing codes P0670 and P0683. Both codes are associated with the glow plug control module. At first I thought it was a glow plug relay failure, but it turns out the Excursion and California trucks didn't have a glow plug relay back then. Instead they had this glow plug controller. I bought this module and installed it without much difficulty. The hardest part was removing the nut from the back; I had to loosen the intake pipe for the turbine so I could put the sleeve on the nut. The two-wire connectors have a tab on the back (which you can't see) that needs to be pushed down while disconnecting the connectors. I have cleared the codes with my reader and so far the light has not returned after six engine test cycles. However, note that it takes three cycles to return codes after clearing them, just in case you discover that this module wasn't your problem.
