Remember when you bought that reassuring update online and it doesn't work? Well I was expecting the same result after a Wi-Fi issue that required a wired connection and it more than delivered. Detailed background and review: - Upgraded internet from 50Mbps to 300Mbps to find that my wired computers, wifi devices and phones ALL worked. according to the specified tariff of the provider. BUT my PS4 and my Samsung Q7 Smart TV. The PS4 without WiFi ran at download speeds of less than 1 Mbps and a ridiculous kbps upload speed. I had to do something. I found MOCA to be the answer, UNTIL I found out that almost all DVR systems use MOCA and that a standalone MOCA solution would disrupt cable TV providers' DVR systems. And so this idea went. So I upgraded my routers to Linksys WM3200AC. Everything worked great BUT TV. So I downloaded inSSIDer 2.0, which caused me to walk around the house and analyze the Wi-Fi spectrum to find out WHY my PS4 and TV were medieval. The analysis showed me that 15 different homes were broadcasting on 2.4GHz channels 1, 6, and 11 at 2.4GHz or higher than my own Wi-Fi in the specific location in the house where my TV and my PS4 were. No, I couldn't move my TV, and even though I ran a Cat 5e all over the attic, there was no smart way to connect the CAT 5e to my downstairs TV without my wife losing it. So the internet told me powerline adapter. I chose TP Link because of its good reputation in the market, although I'm sure other models will work just as well. Did it work? YUP! Installation was incredibly easy, unlike other reviews I didn't have to search and play with different outlets, the outlet next to the router and the outlet behind the TV gave the results I was looking for. Was I at the advertised 600Mbps or my ISP's speed? No, and nobody should expect it. BUT I've gone from under 1Mbps on my TV and PS4 to 60-70 downloads and 30-40 downloads at any given point, ping speeds vary from 9-45ms. Highly recommended, if it doesn't work you can return it. This was my solution for a two-story stucco home built in 1998 where close neighbors destroyed my downstairs dual-band WiFi. Samsung web browser speed test. Please note that my Windows laptop was connected to the powerline using a wired cable with a maximum throughput of 100 Mbps and a speed test of 100+ Mbps.
