I didn't notice the smell at first as they were used outside in bins but recently my wife took some to wrap Christmas decorations and said the smoke smell was so strong she couldn't use them. When I opened the bag right out of the box, they actually smelled like they were on fire. I have found that if I take the bag out of the box and leave it open to "air out" the smell goes away within a few days, but only when the bag is fully open. I like the quality of the bag, but that smoke smell is going to put me off repeat orders. To put this into perspective, I ordered them last July as my other supplies were running low. I didn't use them until Thanksgiving, so I didn't smell smoky in them until my wife told me. I use them because they're used in outdoor jars, but don't bring them inside if you intend to use them unless you like the smell of burning plastic.
