These are dependable basic locks at an affordable price. The action of the dial is acceptably smooth. After locking, the latch is well fixed with minimal lateral play. The shackle has some vertical play, but this does not affect the reliability of the fasteners. As I use more than two of these for different purposes it would be nice to have a choice of colors so they can better identify the locks. A permanent marker can't solve this problem, but different colored cases make it clearer. I use them almost daily for temporary gym lockers and have never had a problem with them. I also use one outside to lock the front door into our crawl space and it still works well after a few years (southern climate, minimal snow). If the lock will be used outdoors I recommend spraying it lightly with WD40 to avoid excessive corrosion. As a lock for everyday use, it works perfectly.
