Review on Sifely Smart Lock: Keyless Entry Front Door Deadbolt for Enhanced Home Security by Daniel Jenkins

I really wanted it to work

I really wanted to like them. I ordered two with a hub to be able to control my smartphone and the internet. They arrived very quickly which was great and I was excited to put them together. The first thing that struck me was that they didn't look fresh from the factory. They weren't sealed and the packaging was damaged but to be honest I'm not too picky about these things as long as they work. I opened one to inventory the parts and prepare to install. My first impression was that they appeared solid and there was no visible damage to the blocks themselves. The only thing I noticed was a missing screw. I opened another package and found the same thing - so I could be wrong, but there were two screws in the tutorial video and there was only one in my package for both orders. I decided that I would put one. It went relatively well; I was even able to get used to not having a hole in my door etc. After going through and following all the steps, two unforgivable things were wrong: 1) Bluetooth wasn't working. It was an explicit trap function that didn't require a hub, but I've tried the serval at various times and in various ways to detect and connect to it and it never worked. 2) The back of the bolt was not protected. The deadbolt fitted the lock perfectly, so the door would have been closed and locked, but the mechanism on the back turned almost 45 degrees left and right. Maybe a missing screw would make a difference? Unlikely, but it wouldn't hurt. In any case, I had to return them and choose options with stronger ratings and reputation. (I've already bought the Schlage model and installed it with no problems. Slightly more expensive but actually does what it was advertised).

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
