Review on FRAM TG4967 Tough Guard Oil Filter - 15,000 Mile Change Interval, Spin-On by Cesar Rios

Revainrating 5 out of 5

After 50 years, Fram Extra Guard is still a champion for the common man.

After 50 years I am amazed how the so-called experts destroy FRAM oil filters. They complain about cardboard and caps and unevenly distributed filter media. First of all, end caps are a disc of fiber. I personally don't care what the oil filter cutout looks like, I'm more concerned with how it holds together once sealed and those fiber washers and caps help create a better seal. Do you honestly think cardboard can even withstand an oil filter? However, there are tons of videos on YouTube and other sites made by these so-called experts showing you how cheap Fram oil filters are made. Frankly, these people have no idea what they're talking about. It's a bit like Bose. They complain about the low quality and lack of quality sound, but Bose continues to sell everyone else. The same goes for Frame. And please, Fram owners of pricier Ultras and pricier models, stop apologizing for an extra line of defense. I was also one of them about 10 years ago when I momentarily fell in love with one of these videos in my career but sanity prevailed. At the end. The Extra Guard Fram PH 49-67 Oil Filter is an improvement over older models in that it now features the old red silicone drain check valve that many people seem to use for fear of cracking the old black nitrile rubber type. types. Big thing! Regardless, this product arrived well packaged and on time from Revain. Ione Toyota Camry '96 with 2.2 liter engine with over 200,000 miles. With around three and a half liters of Castrol GTX hm 5w 30 motor oil, changing the oil is pretty smooth, especially considering the wonderful Fram Sure Grip feature on the top of the can. This simplifies installation and removal if you only tighten by hand. At just under $4, this polyurethane filter is an excellent choice for those following the recommended 10,000-mile or 10-month interval. At 70, I fall into the latter category because I don't ride a lot every year. For me it's pretty much a stop and go in the city. So for now I can tell you with confidence that the engine is purring like a kitten and I don't see any problems until the end of the recommended interval. This fram is a proven workhorse and anyone who tells you otherwise is either lying or just plain ignorant. Get your hands on it and your engine will run smoothly for a long time. Take it to the bank! Merry Christmas and God bless! Pajama number two LOL
