So I bought this for my Eclipse Gs when I had it and it was exactly what you want for a cold air intake. The inlet will recede behind the fog light housing and doesn't seem to have enough clearance so I removed the fog light. But to be honest it works like a direct intake because where the fog light used to be there is a hole that directs the air into the intake filter because it's right behind it so you can expect COLD air. Installation sucked because it's so long and one piece you can't install it from the hood. I ended up having to remove the fender liner and lift it up that way. Oh, and it growls under acceleration. Sounds pretty rough and that's the main reason you want it. So overall, yes, it was worth it.
