These devices provide both spring damping in the door panel and powerful magnets to hold the door open. We've used them on the front and interior doors - they're a lot better than scouring the house for a rubber doorstop that one of your kids grabbed. They also cushion the door if it opens too quickly and hits the doorstop. This is a super quick upgrade to the spring loaded doorstops found in most homes. A small caveat: the metal ring around the door component is relatively wide. Installing it very low can in some cases scratch the pile of the carpet. It's easy to cut with scissors or an angle grinder if it's sticking out just below the door. This is not a product defect, just something to consider during installation.
