The transfer adhesive is not permanent. Good lighting

I bought these white LED strips to mount in camper van overhead cabinets to illuminate the interior for hidden objects. They're bright enough for my application, and with 15 LEDs in the cabinet, the interior was well lit, but my problem is that the transfer glue is wrong or missing. The problem is, if the transfer adhesive sticks to the plastic tape and doesn't transfer, you end up with non-adhesive strips. I used original Weldwood contact adhesive in a red can. This worked really well, but you have to wait 20 minutes for the cement to dry before gluing the LED strips. Also place it under a cloth or paper to catch the drips of glue. For very thin wires I have the perfect solution for that. Note that I didn't want to solder anything, so I just used crimp terminals and splice taps. The trick to doing this successfully is to first cut off the soldered ends of the wires and strip about 2 inches of insulation with a sharp knife, being careful to only cut the plastic strands and not the metal strands. If you are using blue crimp-on terminals, take a very short piece of #14 or #16 stranded copper wire and strip about 1/4 inch of the insulation. Wrap 2 inches of very thin LED wire around the stranded copper wire and crimp. Plug and then crimp as usual. You get a very strong connection. To connect your 12 volt and ground leads, I crimped the LED wires to a short length of #14 or #16 wire splice. I left the other end open but I could have protected that with heat shrink tubing. Now I connected the LED wire to a short length of insulated wire. I took the other end and used a quick connector to move the insulation around to secure to ground or connect 12 volts. White lights only used about 1-1/2 watts.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • I won't say anything
